Suzi’s Secrets #2:
It’s no secret that I’ve been writing. I've been writing all my life. What many people don’t know is that I published a book 14 years ago and re-released it via Amazon a couple months ago as an ebook. (It’s a wholesome contemporary romance. For those interested, here’s the link: https://amzn.to/3ZRhrbD ).
Currently, I’m working on two books. The first is a book of Money Magic, which I’ll talk about another time. The second, is the piece I plan to submit to Hay House Publishing. It’s the first in my Dragon’s Ascension trilogy (series? Maybe, we’ll see). The premise is that three young women inherit magic powers along with a family curse. They struggle to learn their powers and break their curse while navigating business, life and relationships before they and their family line is wiped from the Earth forever.
Here’s a short excerpt…
At noon on the nose, Audri waltzed in with her habitual smile in place. Astra looked up as the doorbell tinkled and smiled back. Her cousin wore her ink black hair in a high messy bun and an enviable shade of pink that looked amazing on her but would have clashed with Astra’s shoulder length, curly red hair.
Dri giggled. “I ran into the funniest little old lady on my way in today. She said she was a palm reader.” She laughed again, twirled a little dance and continued in a mysterious voice,
“Hard news you’ll have before the day is out,
and shortly followed by a lot of doubt.
Exciting events are about to unfold,
take time to make them clear
and love for the three held dear.
When comes reconciliation,
Then follows absolution and redemption
For the curse to be broken.”
They both went silent as the phone rang, and then laughed nervously as Astra went to answer it. What a silly lot about nothing Astra thought as she hung up. That’s what she gets for opening a “witchy” shop, as her dad called it. She and her cousin were totally gullible, with a capital G. She laughed to herself. Wanting to believe in magic so much they believed every crazy lady that had a “vision” or swore the crystal warmed in their hand. They found the truth in every card reading. How much resonated! But really most readings were completely vague and could be true for multiple people. Astra reminded herself of the art of tarot reading, which she had learned to do from a book. When business was slow she sometimes would read cards for those that wanted to pay a little extra. The readings were always really popular.
The shop was very well stocked and the girls had made it adorable. They sold everything from essential oils, to candles, to crystals and rocks, tarot cards, incense, singing bowls, dried herbs and tinctures. Hope. They sold hope, and wasn’t hope magic in itself?
